Hat Society paints town red

Women of all ages gathered at St. Mary's Cultural Centre on April 19 and 20 to celebrate the ninth annual Saskatchewan Red Hat Society Convention.

Women of all ages gathered at St. Mary's Cultural Centre on April 19 and 20 to celebrate the ninth annual Saskatchewan Red Hat Society Convention. More than 40,000 chapters have developed internationally since the founding of the Red Hat Society (RHS) in 1997. The Yorkton Chapter of Hatters got into the spirit by wearing their traditional red and purple attire with 280 guests attending the event.

Members of Yorkton's Troyanda Ukrainian Dance Ensemble provided entertainment with a variety of dances. The Red Hat Society originally began as a result of a few women deciding to greet middle age with verve, humor and elan. Founder Sue Ellen Cooper, Queen Mother believed women share a bond of affection, forged by common life experiences and a genuine enthusiasm for wherever life takes us next.
