Bowman Brothers Ltd.

Bowman Brothers’ beginnings date back to 1907 when they ventured from Eastern Canada to the West and opened up bicycle sales and repair shops. With the coming of the automobile, Bowman expanded into automobile trade and soon there were several service centers in Saskatchewan. The photo shows the new Yorkton branch building erected in 1932. The architect was H.K. Black of Regina, and the builder was Hartmier Construction Company of Yorkton. This building was designed to efficiently handle merchandise. The opening ceremonies, with Mayor C.G. Langrill of Yorkton cutting the ribbon included a buffet supper for 300 guests. Roy Fyfe was Manager of the Yorkton Branch. The Company published a 15 page trade booklet 6 times a year from which this photo and information is taken. (From the fonds of Dr. H. and W. Wilkinson.)
