A Paint Nite afternoon was held recently at Yorkton Joe Beeverz Bar and Grill .
“Paint Nite events are a social night out where people can enjoy a beverage and feed their creative side,” said local spokesperson Donna Hislop.
“There is a chosen painting for each event, tickets are pre-sold on PaintNite.com and there is a local artist at these events who walks you through painting your own version.”
Hislop explained all supplies are provided for participant use and they then take home their own 16X20 painting.
“You come with friends or make new ones while you are there, have a drink or two, a few laughs and overall it’s a fun night out,” said Hislop.
The art work remains that of the artist.
“Paint Nite supports artists as all the paintings used by Paint Nite are created by individual artists, they are copyrighted, and every time we use one of these paintings we pay that artist for allowing us to use it,” said Hislop.
Paint Nite events are being held all across Saskatchewan, Canada, and even the world, said Hislop. Just go to PaintNite.com and enter the city you want to paint in and all the options come up.
Currently there are three events for March, the fifth, and 19th at Joe Beeverz, and the 21st at Tapps.
These are all public events and anyone 19 and over can attend.
“All Paint Nite Regina’s instructors are actual local artists and their bios and samples of their art can be seen on PaintNite.com,” said Hislop.
As for why to participate, Hislop said there are many good reasons to be involved in art.
“Art has been shown to be beneficial to people in so many ways,” she said. “Everyone should have a creative outlet and why not be with friends having a few laughs while you do it.
“Many people who have come out to our events end up being surprised at how well they do or even just how much fun they are. We have had comments from people who said they didn’t want to paint, they didn’t even want to come to an event but were part of a group that came. At the end they said they had so much fun and they even want to hang their painting in their house.”
