For the second straight week Hwy 9 just north of Yorkton was the scene of fatal tragedy.
On Saturday, January 23 just before sunrise a northbound car struck a 22-year-old male pedestrian. Police say the female driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and attempted to help the man and called 911.
Crestvue Ambulance paramedics transported the victim to Yorkton hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police closed down the highway for several hours while Yorkton RCMP and collision reconstructionist investigated.
The RCMP said the initial investigation indicated the driver did not see the pedestrian because he was wearing dark clothing.
Neither the driver nor her adult male passenger were injured in the collision.
No charges have been laid and no names are being released.
