The Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed the month of March as Rural Women's Month.
"Women take on a variety of roles in rural Saskatchewan," Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart said. "From farm managers to small business owners, women make significant contributions to the rural community and to agriculture every day. Rural women are to be commended for taking on active roles in agriculture while still finding time to volunteer in their local communities and raise their families."
Rural Women's Month showcases the talented women of all ages, backgrounds and professions who contribute to rural communities.
"It is appropriate that we recognize the critical role of rural women, including First Nation and Métis women, in enhancing agriculture, rural development, and building the very best province in the country," Social Services Minister and Minister responsible for the Status of Women June Draude said. "Rural women will continue to be resourceful, resilient, and key agents of economic, political and social development in their communities.
