Saltcoats Beautification Committee Spring Report

The gardening season finally is here, so our committee is very busy.

Thanks to the memoriam donations from Shirley Bradford's friends and family, we are planting a flower bed with new and unique peony plants. The peony was one of Shirley's favorite flowers.

There will be new pretty welcome banners along Commercial street. The benches and picnic tables are going to be re-stained. The information sign at Immigration Hall Garden will be mounted on a large rock.

The existing flower beds will soon be planted. Thank you to the volunteers, past and present year, who plant, water, and weed these.

The tree beds along High Street are getting more wood chips to help keep the invasive weeds at bay.

We always welcome more trees in memory of family, friends or to mark special occasions. Information on how to do this is at the Town Office.

We are in need of another metal or wrought iron garbage can holder for one of the picnic spots around town. Call Gerri at 306-744-2969 if you have one to donate. Thanks.

Save this date: July 26 - a Come 'n' Go Garden Party, from 1-4 p.m. You are invited to a self guided tour of some town gardens with refreshments and goodies served at certain yards. There is no fee but donations will be gladly accepted and proceeds will go to purchasing more trees and flowers to beautify the town. You can start your tour at any of three locations: Sheila's-101 Glasgow; or Gidge's-105 Crescent lake Road or Gerri's-133 Crescent Lake Road. You will be given a map of the locations of other gardens to tour at your starting garden.

If you would like your garden to be included in the tour call Gerri at 306-744-2969 by July 5th.
