Saskatchewan retailers saw another record month of sales, with retail sales rising 6.4 per cent in September of 2012 over last September according to a report released by Statistics Canada today. It was the second highest percentage increase among the provinces.

"Saskatchewan retail sales continue to trend upward in 2012," Economy Minister Bill Boyd said. "Our strong economy is giving consumers confidence, and as a result, they are in a buying mood."

On a national front, retail sales were up only 1.8 per cent on an annual basis.

"Strong economic performance in the retail sector is important to our growth," Boyd said. "2012 has been a very good year for our economy with wages continuing to rise, job opportunities being created, and Saskatchewan families having the financial ability to make purchases which contribute to a higher standard of living."
