The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to proclaim the week of March 20-26 as Social Work Week in Saskatchewan.
The theme of this year's commemoration is "Social Workers for Dignity and Inclusion: Upholding Human Rights".
"On this occasion, I would like to thank and congratulate social workers across Saskatchewan for all of the important work that they do on behalf of families, children, people with disabilities, seniors and other people in need," Social Services Minister June Draude said. "Our government is committed to ensuring that our most vulnerable citizens have access to an array of programs and services that contribute to their well-being and quality of life, and social workers play a vital role in making that happen."
"This is the time we set aside to celebrate our profession and all that we do within it, to learn from our colleagues and to give profile to important issues," Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW) President Carole Bryant said.
Established in 1962, the SASW currently has an active membership of more than 1,200 social workers who live and work in communities across the province.
