Summer Ex ready to go

The arrival of July on the calender means it is Yorkton Exhibition time one again in the city. The annual summer fair started this morning (Wednesday) with the Yorkton Regional 4-H Show, the agricultural highlight of the four day event.

The annual summer fair started this morning (Wednesday) with the Yorkton Regional 4-H Show, the agricultural highlight of the four day event.

The fair ends Saturday evening with the always popular GX94 Star Search final, followed by the equally popular fireworks.

In between the opening and closing events, will be four days of entertainment for everyone.

The entertainment includes a cabaret tonight with Corb Lund. Tickets for the cabaret are extra in addition to gate admission.

Seniors day is today, so seniors gain admittance to the grounds for $5.

Thursday will be Kiddies Day, so children arriving on the grounds before 1:30 p.m., and accompanied by ay an adult will be admitted free (two children per adult).

Attractions on the grounds throughout the fair include a petting zoo, Safari Jeff, the Magic Bean Magic Show, motorcycle thrill show and kid's tractor pulls.

Those with am interest in livestock in addition to the 4-H Show there will be a light horse show Thursday and Friday, chuckwagon and chariot races daily Wednesday through Friday, and a special harness race card Saturday.

West Coast Amusements will provide midway rides and games all four days.

The parade down Broadway Street in the city takes places Saturday starting at 11 p.m.

And then there will be the nightly grandstand events, Brenda Lee Cottrell Wednesday, Donny Parenteau Thursday, and Nick Gilder & Sweeney Todd Friday.
