Suann Laurent, president and CEO of the Sunrise Health Region has been short-listed for a national award.
Members of the local RHR staff nominated Laurent for the Innovation Award for Healthcare Leadership, sponsored by Medtronic of Canada Ltd. through the Canadian College of Health Leaders. Conformation arrived in mid-November Laurent's nomination was accepted.
The criteria for the award is as follows "this award recognizes the outstanding capabilities and achievements of a senior executive who, through a career of service, has made significant contributions to the profession by pushing the envelope and providing leadership that is sound, steady, strategic and effective and has fundamentally influenced the culture of the organization. The successful recipient will have created a climate of continuous improvement (i.e. game changing) and is recognized as being stellar by virtue of their effective innovative strategies and the value that those strategies have created for the patients and the communities served."
"I didn't know they were doing this," Laurent told the regular monthly meeting of the SHR Board of Directors last Wednesday.
"To me I've already won because my team nominated me.
This year's awards presentation will be held in Niagra Falls, Ontario during the fourth annual National Awards Gala on June 9, 2013.
