A 19-year-old Yorkton man accused of a home invasion and robbery with violence has been remanded in custody.

A police information filed in Yorkton Provincial Court alleges Jessie Robert McDowell broke into a Yorkton residence October 22 wearing a mask to cover his face and used a piece of rebar to assault and rob two occupants of the home.

McDowell is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of breaking and entering and committing an idictable offence, two counts of robbery with violence, two counts of forcible confinement, one count of possessing a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public and one count of wearing a disguise while committing an indictable offence.

At a court appearance November 17, Legal Aid attorney Richard Yaholnitsky consented to McDowell’s continued incarceration. A next appearance was scheduled for November 29.

Break and enter of a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence and robbery with violence each carry a maximum penalty of life in prison.
