Wedding anniversaries celebrated

A meeting of the Dubuc Heritage Worship Centre Committee was held at the home of Mary Nagy on Monday evening May 31 with 7 in attendance. Mary Nagy will continue as Treasurer and Mary Forsberg as recording secretary.

A meeting of the Dubuc Heritage Worship Centre Committee was held at the home of Mary Nagy on Monday evening May 31 with 7 in attendance. Mary Nagy will continue as Treasurer and Mary Forsberg as recording secretary.

Glenda Bell acted as Chairperson for the meeting. Bob Davies looks after maintenance to the church building and grounds. Bob is a tremendous volunteer at the church and in the community as a whole. Vivian Talbot agreed to audit the books. Glenda Bell, Sylvia Stadel and Vivian Talbot will attempt to arrange community worship services.

It was decided to try to hold at least 3 services a year with one being at Christmas. The next service of worship will be on Sunday, July 25 at 10 a.m. Garland Thiele and his worship group will lead us in word and song.

The monthly Friendship Club supper took the form of a BBQ on Wednesday, June 9. 57 people enjoyed pot luck salads and desserts along with hamburgers and hotdogs.

A warm welcome was given to Fred and Terri Marshall and daughters Katie and Becky who recently moved into the McCabe house on Joseph St. They have come to the prairies from Nova Scotia.

The evening also served as a farewell to John and Judy Talbot who moved into Sumner Place in Esterhazy on June 12. A gift was presented for the community. Glenda Bell, a friend and neighbour of the Talbot's and Marvin Horachek, village mayor, both spoke, wishing them good health and happiness in their new home. They also expressed how active the couple has been in our community. Dubuc's loss will be Esterhazy's gain!A village cemetery meeting was held on Friday, June 11 at the Hut. There was a disappointing turnout of only 5 persons. Lanny Topliss is hired as the caretaker again this year and continues to do a great job keeping the cemetery looking clean. Jim Talbot stayed on as committee chairperson and Audrey Nielsen continues as secretary-treasurer.

Congratulations & best wishes to Lawrence and Doris Parker who celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 14 and also to John and Judy Talbot who were married 62 years ago on June 11, 1948. Belated wishes to Earle and Nina Moller who had their 62nd wedding anniversary on May 11.

Congratulations and best wishes from the community go to Iris (Nicholson) Groseth who celebrated her 80th birthday on June 13. Iris now lives in a senior complex in Estevan near her daughter, Daphne.

Son, Rodney Groseth, and June Haas motored from Dubuc to celebrate with Mom.Riley Talbot celebrated his 8th birthday with a party at Sunset Beach, Crooked Lake on Sunday, June 13.

The village under the direction of Mayor Marvin Horachek has spruced up the playground on the corner of Bernier St. and Assiniboia Ave. Funds were received through a government grant to pay for this cleanup work.

The Hut was abuzz when 22 people attended coffee row Sat., Jun 12. Marilyn (Smulan) Conrad and Laura Ageson renewed friendships and caught up on some Dubuc news.

They were weekend guests with Vivian and James Talbot while attending their niece, Rhonda Helmeczi's wedding celebration in Esterhazy.

Rhonda is the daughter of Gail (Smulan) and the late Bert Helmeczi. Rhonda was married earlier this year whiile holidaying in Mexico. Murray and Irene Bawden also brought their weekend guests, Diane and Dennis Scott, to coffee row.

Several of the Johnson cousins met for supper at Peter and Audrey Nielsens who reside near Stonewall, MB.
