The Second Annual Christmas Bird Count for Kids was held Dec. 12, at the Ecological Preserve in Yorkton. In general the birds were lying low and the day was cloudy but the kids made a hike of it, and did see two chickadees, a raven, and a magpie.

Homes around Yorkton are getting ready for Christmas, with plenty of decorations, lights and Christmas cheer spread throughout the city.

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign is going well so far. The goal for this year’s campaign is $70,000, and Captain Sam Tim hopes they can smash that goal. The campaign currently sits at $66,216.75 dollars.
