In what they described as “quite an honour”, Jordan and Jennifer Lindgren of Norquay were named the winners of the Saskatchewan Outstanding Young Farmer award on June 21 at the Western Canada Farm Progress Show in Regina.

The Sturgis sports grounds were alive with action when eager fans took to the grounds for the Sports and Rodeo weekend on June 23 and 24. The weekend kicked off with a pancake breakfast at the Sturgis READ Club.

The Main Street Mobile, an outreach implemented to support children aged five and under and their families, visited Kids Korner in Canora on June 21.

The Kamsack Power House Museum held a successful annual season opening event on May 20 which was “very well attended” according to organizers. The pancake breakfast kicked off the schedule at 9 a.m.

The Family Resource Centre has a new location that encourages participants to feel at home. The centre is located in the Sturgis Elementary School and officially opened to the public in January and hosted a barbeque lunch on June 20.

Progress made in effort to protect Lake Diefenbaker from invasive species

The Norquay Class of 2018, which is comprised of 17 students, celebrated on June 8 at their graduation. The graduation program started at 1:30 p.m.

At the regular council meetings on May 14, 28 and June 11 council dealt with issues related to asphalt shingle disposal, nuisance orders for designated properties and a water well out of commission.

The annual Decoration Day service was held at the Canora Cemetery on June 10, and was opened with the singing of O Canada.
