Accused drug trafficker arrested in high-risk traffic stop seeks bail

SASKATOON – A man facing drug trafficking and weapons charges after being arrested by the Saskatoon Police Crime Reduction Team and Tactical Support Unit in a high-risk traffic stop is seeking bail.

Dakota Aubichon, 27, made his first appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court Wednesday morning and the matter was adjourned to Oct. 14 for a bail hearing.

Saskatoon Police say they arrested Aubichon after the traffic stop in the 200 block of Fairmont Drive just before 9 p.m. on Oct. 6. They seized methamphetamine, cocaine, cash and items consistent with drug trafficking.

Police then got a search warrant for a home in the 1900 block of 22nd Street West and seized ammunition, additional methamphetamine and cocaine, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

In total, police seized 461.7 grams of methamphetamine, 31.1 grams of cocaine, 174.1 grams of cocaine/meth mixture, $7,690 in cash, 40 packages of cannabis extracts, shotgun ammunition, as well as cell phones, digital scales and documents. Police didn’t specify the nature of the documents.

Aubichon was charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property over $5,000 obtained by crime, and several weapons-related offences. The charges against him haven’t been tested in court.
