Banquet to Benefit Outlook Firefighters

Event to serve as fundraiser for department

A banquet taking place next week will put a special spotlight on a number of Outlook’s firefighters from years past and serve as a fundraiser for the department.

The Outlook Firefighters Appreciation Banquet & Fundraiser takes place on Friday, June 15 at the Outlook Civic Centre beginning at 5:30.

The evening will feature national award presentations to eight of Outlook’s former firefighters, as well as recognize the current crew that has been incredibly busy with calls in the past year.  As well, the guest speaker of the program will be author Ernie Louttit, who served as a police officer in Saskatoon for many years and wrote about his experiences as a First Nations man on the force in two books.

As someone whose career revolved around being a first responder, Louttit recognizes how important firefighters are to the communities that they serve, and he’s looking forward to appearing in Outlook to help honour the local crew.

“Looking forward to a great evening in Outlook,” Ernie commented on his Twitter account.  “Volunteer Firefighters are so important to the safety of our communities.  #Everydayheroes  Come on out and help honour them if you can!!!”

Tickets for the banquet are limited.  They can be purchased in Outlook for $45 at AG Foods or the Riverbend Co-op Marketplace until June 10.
