Yesterday, La Ronge RCMP were on the scene approximately 8 km north of La Ronge on Highway 102, where an indigenous adult female was located deceased along the highway at approximately 5:30 a.m.
The identity of the female victim has today been confirmed to be 28-year-old Sheena Marie Billettte, of La Ronge.
Billette was discovered in the early morning hours of Dec. 23, 2019, by a motorist who was travelling on Highway 102.
An autopsy will be conducted on Billette in the next few days. The Regina Major Crimes Unit South, Forensic Identification Unit and La Ronge Detachment officers continue to investigate.
Officers are working to determine all of the events over the last week of Billette’s life and are seeking information from anyone who may have known her whereabouts, activities, and interactions to assist with the investigation.
