Bomb disposal unit called in when Saskatoon police seize pipe bomb

SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police Service Crime Reduction Team executed a warrant Wednesday that resulted in the seizure of weapons and ammunition, including a pipe bomb, that has led to the arrest of three people.

On March 16, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the SPS Tactical Support Unit executed a warrant in the 200 block of Fairmont Drive. Officers arrested two men ages 31 and 63, and a 41-year-old woman, without further incident.

Once inside, investigators began a search and located a “pipe bomb” explosive incendiary device. The SPS Explosive Disposal Unit was called in to take control of the device safely.  

As a result of this investigation, CRT investigators seized the following:

  • $160 cash
  • 1 pipe bomb (explosive incendiary device)
  • 1 rifle with ammunition
  • 1 shotgun with ammunition
  • 32 grams powdered cocaine
  • Various other ammunition
  • Ballistic soft body armour

All three individuals are charged with numerous firearms, ammunition, possession of an explosive device and drug related charges.
