CALDER - Celebrations at Calder

On Dec. 4, 2011, the Calder Good Neighbour Centre held their Christmas Party and Birthday Party. The people who had birthdays in November and December were: Beth Furtney of Roblin, Marlene Balabuk, Ann Mostoway, Elmer Eftoda and Myna Pastershank, all of Calder.

The Christmas Food Hamper winners were: 1st Margie Mankish, 2nd Kiah Wendeshoff, 3rd Jim Fustey, 4th Tony Rohatensky, 5th Arthur Martenuk and Lil Wozney.

The winners of the whist drive on Dec. 4 were: 1st Marlene Miller, 2nd Donna Fustey, 3rd Beth Furtney and low Margie Mankish. Pot of gold winners were Virginia Wandy and Elmer Eftoda. The door prize went to Brandy Balabuk.

Sarah and Trent Adam are proud parents to a little boy, Liam Trent. Congratulations. Proud grandparents are Larry & Shiryel Adam and Mr. and Mrs. Morris.

Ivan and Regina Sobkow are proud parents to another little boy, Vincent Anton. Now Nickolas has a new little brother.

The Calder Community Christmas Potluck Supper had a great turn out this year. Thank you to the community and surrounding area for coming out and celebrating the Christmas spirit with us.

Thank you to the ladies who started up the Christmas carolling for us. You all did a wonderdul job. Thank you to all who bought raffle tickets, and congratulations to all the winners.

The Calder Yalenka Dancers did a wonderful job on their dances. Thank you to Kallie Haas and Amanda Antony for helping with the little groups. Amanda and Kallie are assistant instructors who enjoy helping out the main instructor, Jason Sliva. The group is made up of the following people: Kassidi Antony, Dexter Walker, Katrina Raml. Brianna Balubuck, Biana Raml & Mikey Raml. Katie Haas also dances when she is home.

The Calder Seniors held their whist drive on Dec. 17 at the Good Neighbour Centre. The winners were: 1st Marlene Balabuk, 2nd Judy Pryslak, 3rd Ella Becker and low Gordon Kahut. Pot of gold winners were Norman Wozney and Marlene Miller.
