The Canora Junior Cougars of Canora Composite School continue to have a busy season, according to Kim Eitenier, the coach.

The Canora Composite School was the location for the Grades 9 and 10 Junior Jamboree hosted by the Cougars on October 1. The team welcomed Preeceville School and Hudson Bay Composite High School to play a total of three games.

In the first game, the Cougars were still unable to defeat the Preeceville Panthers, who scored 47 points without letting the Cougars get any, Eitenier said. The second game only proved that the Preeceville Panthers are a strong team, as they beat Hudson Bay 37 to 0.

In the final game, Canora junior Cougars played a strong game, and defeated Hudson Bay 25-13. Player Derek Barteski completed four successful touchdowns for the Cougars.

The team followed up the weekend by travelling to Wakaw on October 3. They had a terrible first half, according to Eitenier, and were down by 19-0, but the second half was much better.

One touchdown was scored by Jacob Danyluk on a 40-yard run. Later on, Danyluk assisted Alden Baron with a 45-yard pass and run play and ran in an extra point convert. Carson Ostafie also had a nice interception in the third quarter, but the team still lost 25-13, said Eitenier.

The Canora junior Cougars will continue the season today (October 12), when they will play a home game against the team from Watson School.
