After an accident at a train crossing where a grader was hit by a train, police remind motorists that vehicle safety is a priority.

Just after 10 a.m. on September 26, the Canora RCMP, Canadian National (CN) Rail Police, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Sturgis Fire Department responded to an accident at a railroad crossing.

A southbound CN train struck a grader at a crossing located approximately two kilometres south of Tadmore. The grader was also facing south at the time and sustained significant damage. The greater operator was treated for minor injuries by EMS, but the occupants of the train were not injured.

Sgt. Greg Smith of the Canora RCMP said that charges are not being considered at this time, but that motorists should be aware when approaching railway crossings and only proceed when safe.
