The Canora Wheatland Lioness Club will be organizing an event to welcome the Prairie Women on Snowmobiles.

The Prairie Women on Snowmobiles are to come to Canora as their fourth stop on their 1,400-kilometre route through a portion of Saskatchewan, and the Canora Wheatland Lioness Club will welcome them and assist them in fundraising for breast cancer research.

The Canora Wheatland Lioness Club will be waiting for the team to arrive on January 29 at the Activity Centre, according to Darlene Senkow, an organizer for the event.

“It’s just a quick stop since they’re heading out to Kamsack after us,” she said, though she added that it doesn’t mean the Lioness Club will not be prepared.

The Canora Wheatland Lioness Club will be serving coffee and muffins to the group and to the general public, who are welcome to attend the event. Senkow added that the Gateway Co-op will be providing the supplies as well as assisting at the event.

Those who wish to make donations to Prairie Women on Snowmobiles, which have contributed 100 per cent of the funds raised from their last 16 missions to cancer research, may contribute at the event.

“We really want to get the public out to this event to make sure the women are welcomed,” Senkow said.
