Chili lunch fundraiser to add to Canora’s contribution to Run for the Cure

Canora area residents are expected to once again support the chili lunch fundraiser run by the Canora branch of the CIBC on Thursday for the annual fundraiser called the CIBC Run for the Cure.

Canora area residents are expected to once again support the chili lunch fundraiser run by the Canora branch of the CIBC on Thursday for the annual fundraiser called the CIBC Run for the Cure.

The money from the lunch will be combined with proceeds from other fundraisers for the Canora CIBC branch’s contribution to the CIBC Run for the Cure, in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, said Patty Kolodziejski, the branch spokesperson for the effort. Each year, the branch raises about $2,000 for the event.

Fundraising goes on much of the year with dress-down Fridays and the sale of used books, she said. The book sales continue to the end of September.

There have also been a number of private donations and anyone still wishing to make a donation may do so through the Canora branch. Canora’s donation will be sent with a couple of CIBC employees who plan to attend an official Run for the Cure event in Regina on October 4. There will also be official runs in Saskatoon and in other centres across the country.

Many of the volunteers and staff were wearing the Run for the Cure pink T-shirts at the lunch and this week the CIBC staff are wearing the T-shirts for the Think Pink Week initiative.

It is always nice to see so many cancer survivors and volunteers coming out to help the staff put on the chili lunch fundraiser, said Kolodziejski.
