City details contract signings

The City of Yorkton is streamlining its policy for management to sign agreements.

“A policy has been drafted with the objective of establishing an Agreement/Contract process and a template to ensure that the majority of City Contracts/Agreements are standardized and that certain compulsory clauses and certain applicable clauses are contained within. The Agreement had been drafted by the City Clerk, presented to all of the Department Heads at Management Meetings, and modifications were made to address concerns raised,” Kathy Ritchie, City Clerk told the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday.

“During the Management Meeting discussions, it was suggested that Department Heads be given signing authority for the Agreements/Contracts that match the requirements for Department Heads spending authority as established in the Purchasing of Goods and Services and Contract Renewals Policy.”

Ritchie said the policy did need Council support.

“In order for that to happen, Council must approve the Agreement/Contract Policy No. 10.115 which provides signing authority to Departments Heads for contracts/agreements that fall within the Purchasing Policy authorizations.”

Council was unanimous in passing the policy.
