Congratulations to Clinton Fuchs who scored a hole in one on the eighth hole while golfing at the Kananaskis golf course, Mount Kid, AB on June 5. His three golf buddies witnessed the fantastic accomplishment and, incidentally, the course Marshall was also watching the foursome. There now is a plaque at the golf course with Clint's name on it. Clinton is the son of Lorne Fuchs and grandson of Gail Fuchs, former Dubuc residents now living in Esterhazy.
Congrats to Dubuc area farmer, Marty Nagy, who won supper in the field, through a contest on GX94, on Wed., June 6. Friends and family sharing in the win and helping to eat the food were Marty's wife, Renee, and children, Brayden and Cassandra; brother and fellow farmer, Tyler Nagy; parents, Lloyd and Trina Nagy; friends, Brad and Loretta Nagy, Kelly and Sandi Bilan; and three members from the GX94 crew. The meal of roast beef, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, gravy, mixed vegetables, buns, three salads, raw veggies with dip, fruit also with dip, black forest cake and beverages was enjoyed by all. Besides the meal, gifts from Sobey's, the Painted Hand Casino, New Holland and GX94 were left behind to be enjoyed by the lucky winner.
The monthly community potluck was held on the second Wednesday of June with 25 persons in attendance at the Hut on Main St. Darlene Yuke couldn't make it but sent several home cooked dishes for the locals to enjoy as part of the bountiful and very delicious supper. The McAlpines came out as the big winners of the night when Ron won the Door Prize and Melba took home the 50/50 raffle proceeds. Better get a lottery ticket, quick, before the luck runs out!
Lorne and Marlene Miller of Parksville, BC were guests at the home of Audrey and Peter Nielsen from Tues to Mon. a week ago. The Millers used to live at the Junction of 9/22 North of Dubuc in the late 70's and early 80's when they operated an Esso franchise located there. They thoroughly enjoyed attending coffee rows, the potluck supper, visiting with former neighbours, renewing old friendships and making new ones.
Audrey Nielsen attended the 25th anniversary of the St. Marie Bernard Hospice at Grayson on Fri., June 15. She had worked at the Hospice as supervisor for several years followed by a few more terms as a board member. The noon luncheon and program was rounded out with lots of visiting with clients, family members of current and former clients, current and former staff and board members as well as the many community people in attendance.
