Having sold out, the first Girls Night Out fundraiser for Eaglestone Lodge is being heralded as a “great success.”

“We had 220 come through the door, and with board members and other volunteers, we served 245 people,” Colleen Hunter, the administrator at Eaglestone Lodge and an organizer of the event, said.

Held at the OCC Hall on November 7, the event included a trade show featuring 19 tables of products of special interest to women; a sit-down chicken kabob supper served by 12 young men “dressed nicely;” a fashion show with clothing from Sas-Kam Sportsman in Kamsack, Safire of Yorkton and Teal Moon Boutique of Regina; a hilarious performance by Katrina (Nadia Reibin) of Veregin, who provided “words of wisdom for women;” a martini bar and a regular bar, and lots of time for visiting and enjoying oneself, Hunter said.

“Everyone had a great time and many agreed that it was ‘a classy event,’” she said, crediting the success to the many volunteers who helped organize it. “The hall was decorated beautifully.

“I was very proud of the volunteers,” she said. “Everyone we asked to help came out.”

Hunter was pleased to see that among the guests was a limousine full of women who came from Swan River and a busload from Norquay.

“We raised over $8,000 for the Lodge,” she said. The money is to go towards a major upgrade to the facility’s heating and ventilation system, which will be improved in a five-year plan.

The event will be held again next year, most likely on the first weekend of November, she said.
