MELVILLE - There has been an increase in fraudulent calls explaining that an victim's SIN (Social Insurance Number) has been breached, cancelled or there is an arrest warrant issued.

The victim is directed to press a number and speak to a security officer or Service Canada representative.

These types of calls are used by suspects in an attempt to gather the victim's personal information.

RCMP are reminding the public that Service Canada or the police will not be contacting you by these types of phone calls.
