HMCS Kamsack memorial site approved

Town council has given its permission to the Kamsack branch of the Royal Canadian Legion to install a memorial at the Cenotaph Park.

Town council has given its permission to the Kamsack branch of the Royal Canadian Legion to install a memorial at the Cenotaph Park.

At its regular meeting on September 28, council agreed to permit the Legion to place a memorial to the HMCS Kamsack, a corvette-type ship that served during the Second World War. Although granting permission, council decided not to sell or donate the property for the memorial to the Legion.

An application from Craig Sorgenson to join the Kamsack Volunteer Fire Department was approved.

Approval was granted for a donation of $500 to the Kamsack and District Arts Council and $50 to the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute’s Terry Fox Run.
