Kamsack Heart and Home Quilt Club concludes season

Members of the Heart and Home Quilt Club in Kamsack wrapped up their season last week by showing one another their work and by preparing the nine quilt tops they made for the Victoria’s Quilts program.

The group met once a week for 10 weeks when they exchanged ideas and sewed the quilt tops which are being turned over to Bobbi Wenner of Madge Lake, who, using a sewing machine, will complete the construction. The finished quilts are then sent to a Victoria’s Quilt location for distribution free of charge to cancer patients.

“It takes Bobbi two to three hours to complete the quilts,” Colleen Koroluk, president of the quilting club, said.

“The quilt covers we made are all of different patterns,” Koroluk said. “We started using brown and gold materials, and then used donated pinks and purples and then blue material.”

Koroluk said that with each of the covers is a matching bag into which the quilt can be folded.

At the group’s final meeting, members critiqued and admired projects that others have completed or were currently working on and then everyone enjoyed a pizza dinner.
