KCI students selling fresh fruit and cookie dough

District residents have until tomorrow (February 26) to place their orders for apples, oranges, pears, juice and cookie dough which are being sold by students of the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute.

            District residents have until tomorrow (February 26) to place their orders for apples, oranges, pears, juice and cookie dough which are being sold by students of the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute.

            Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards student activities, including the awards programs, said information from the school.

            “Many have asked us to run a spring fundraiser from DeSimone Farms,” the information said. “So here it is.”

            This fundraiser is normally held in the winter and money raised goes towards filling the Christmas food hampers, said Glenda Tulloch, a teacher involved in the project. “It has been overwhelmingly successful.”

            “This time our fundraiser is for school activities,” Tulloch said. The SRC raises funds so that the school does not have to raise fees and charge students more for participation in various activities. All students benefit from the fundraisers.

            “Our goal is for our students to take the forms home and ask five people.”

            Being sold in packages of 10 or 11 pounds each are four types of apples and Anjou pears as well as navel oranges and red grapefruit. The six types of cookie dough are: white chocolate macadamia, double chocolate, rainbow, chocolate chip, dark-and-white chocolate and oatmeal raisin. Also being sold are apple and raspberry sparkling juices, pure apple juice and pure apple and raspberry juice as well as natural apple chips and cinnamon apple chips.

            The fruit, juices and cookie dough is to be delivered to the customers in mid-March.
