STENEN — Stenen held the one-day biggest small town farmers market on July 20. The market had to adapt this year and was held inside the curling rink due to the rain. Despite the rain and a few vendors backing out at the last minute, the event was a success.
There were 37 vendors, all displaying their articles at the market. The Stenen Fire Department hosted a barbecue, and the vendors were treated to a pancake breakfast before the show.
The curling rink atmosphere added a nostalgic feel as vendors and attendees had fun reminiscing over the many old advertisement signs that have hung in the rink for numerous years.
“It was a huge success with great vendors, and for the most part, everyone had fun,” said Stacy Anaka, organizer. “This is the fourth year for the event, and we are looking forward to adding new things next year. We will incorporate more children’s activities, more vendors, and the possibility of showcasing local talent during the show. I want to thank Co-op and Preeceville Shop Easy for all their donations. We sold 175 burgers, and the event was definitely a huge success,” she concluded.
Vendors in attendance included Scentsy, Penners Market, BR Honey, Watkins, Rook’s Nest, H.M, Design, Papa R Mini Donuts, Nemez Arts, Finally Found It Bodycare. Country Fresh, Boba Bubbles, Canadian Bee Seals, Gifts 4U, Vesela’s International Kitchen, Parker’s Port, Air Brush tattoos, honey, and artwork.
The Barveenok Ukrainian Dance Club and the Roughrider Snowmobile Club sold hot chocolate, iced tea, and raffle tickets.
All funds from the event went to improving the Village Stenen playground equipment.
