Man facing organized crime charge seeks bail in Saskatoon court

SASKATOON – An Edmonton man arrested by Kindersley RCMP and charged with armed robbery for a criminal organization is seeking bail.

A show cause hearing for Joel Roland Reed, who also goes by the name of Joel Woodburn, is scheduled for March 31 in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

Reed was arrested in a high-risk takedown on Feb. 18 at an apartment building in Kindersley. The Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident team was called in to arrest Reed. Saskatchewan RCMP General Investigation Section out of Saskatoon, Rosetown RCMP Traffic Services, and Swift Current RCMP Police Dog Services assisted in the arrest.

According to Kindersley RCMP, they got a call about an armed robbery at a business in Eatonia at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 17.

In connection to the armed robbery, Reed was also charged with disguise with intent to commit an offense, pointing a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a weapon contrary to an order.

RCMP say that at the time of Reed’s arrest, he was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.

The charges against Reed haven’t been proven in court.
