Melfort RCMP execute two Search Warrants in the City of Melfort

On the morning of April 15, 2020, Melfort RCMP, with the assistance from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, Crime Reduction Team, Tisdale Detachment and Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan, executed search warrants under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act on two residences in the city of Melfort.

 

In total, four individuals were arrested. One adult male and adult female occupant from each of the two residences were taken into custody.

During the searches, drug paraphernalia, unknown pills, unknown powder substances and weapons were located in the residences. The unknown substances are being sent to Health Canada for testing.

 

27-year-old Craig Natomagan of Prince Albert, Sask., has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous and two counts of Fail to Comply with a Release Order. Natomagan appeared before Melfort Provincial Court on April 16, 2020, on these charges and several outstanding arrest warrants. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on April 21, 2020.

 

66-year-old Vance Shmyr, of Melfort, Sask., has been charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine. He is scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on July 13, 2020.

 

The two adult females were released with no charges.

 

This investigation is ongoing.
