Preeceville School welcomes new staff

Numerous changes in staffing were noted in the Preeceville School for the new school season when the doors opened on September 1. Laura Chartrand is no stranger to the school but she has joined the staff as the full time Grade 1 teacher.

Laura Chartrand is no stranger to the school but she has joined the staff as the full time Grade 1 teacher. Chartrand filled in a maturity leave position for Grade 5 in the 2014/15 school year. She is originally from Carberry, Man., and received her bachelor of music and bachelor of education degrees from Brandon University.

Ashton Langille, who was born, raised and attended the Preeceville School, is currently filling in for Tonilee Lario until April and teaching Grade 2. She received her bachelor of education from the Medicine Hat Campus and the University of Alberta. She received her internship at Sherwood Park and Marwayne, Alta. She previously taught in the Good Spirit School Division and was the director of the 1 2 3 Care For Me Day Care.

Tyrrell Amy is an intern under the guidance of Leslea Hanson. Amy is from Saskatoon and is currently studying English and history at the University of Saskatchewan. He will be continuing his education at the university after his internship is complete in December. He will be involved in the student representative council.

Katelynn Prokop is a hometown girl from Sturgis who is currently sharing teaching responsibilities for science with Heidi Paterson who is only teaching half time to allow her to pursue her education. Prokop is the daughter of Harvey and Pat Prokop of Sturgis and she grew up and attended school in Sturgis. She attended the University of Regina where she received her bachelor of education degree with a major in biology. Her internship was in Marten Collegiate in Regina. Prokop traveled to London, England  where she taught science in an all-girl school for two years. She will be helping to coach the senior girls volleyball team and the badminton program.

Meghan Morton was hired to teach Grade 4 while Erin Stolar is on maternity leave. Morton grew up attending numerous schools as her family moved often because of her father’s career with the RCMP. She is originally from the Canora area. For preschool to Grade 5 she attended Columbia School in Yorkton, grades 69 were taken in Loreburn and grades 1012 in Saskatoon. Morton received her bachelor of education degree from the University of Saskatchewan. She also taught at Sturgis Elementary, Grayson, and Meadow Lake schools.
