On Dec. 29, the Saskatchewan RCMP Roving Traffic Unit conducted a traffic stop on Highway 16 near Maidstone, SK.

During the traffic stop, a search was conducted under the Cannabis Control (Saskatchewan) Act, resulting in a significant seizure of drugs. 259 grams of what is suspected to be crack cocaine and 223 grams of what is suspected to be cocaine were located in vacuum-sealed bags. All together almost half a kilogram of drugs were seized, equating to approximately 3500 uses.

 

The lone occupant of the vehicle, 27-year-old Darian Smith of Edmonton, AB, has been charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

 

Smith made his first court appearance in Lloydminster Provincial Court this morning.
