On July 27, 2019, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Saskatoon RCMP responded to the report of a 36-year-old male who went missing while operating a Jet Ski on Black Strap Lake, SK. He was the lone occupant of the Jet Ski.
Search efforts began immediately with Dundurn Fire and Rescue, STARS air ambulance, Saskatoon Police Service Air Support and Saskatoon Fire who assisted in locating the male. Initial recovery efforts were unsuccessful due to darkness and strong winds.
The Manitoba RCMP Underwater Recovery Team has been called to assist and began their search today on July 29, 2019.
Saskatoon RCMP will remain on scene at the far north end of Black Strap Lake (north of the bridge) until recovery efforts are complete. For the duration of the search, they are restricting boat trafficking at the north end of Black Strap Lake. Officers request the public to use alternate boat launches to provide sufficient space for the setup of the resources required to conduct the search.
