Saskatoon mom accused of faking death, abducting child appears in court

The woman allegedly abducted her child and faked her death before fleeing to the United States.

SASKATOON – A Saskatoon woman accused of abducting her child and faking her death before fleeing to the United States appeared in Saskatoon court Monday facing additional charges.

Last week, Saskatoon Police Service’s Economic Crime Section said they additionally charged the 48-year-old woman with procurement to be made and possess identity documents, forging a passport, providing a false statement in relation to a passport, possession of a forged passport, possession of forged documents, identity theft and identity fraud. 

The woman, who can’t be identified due to a publication ban, was arrested in August following a missing persons investigation. In that investigation, she was charged with parental abduction and mischief after allegedly illegally crossing into the United States.

She also faces charges in the U.S. including felony aggravated identity theft.

The woman is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court again on Nov. 25 to enter a plea.
