SASKATOON — The City of Saskatoon is thrilled to unveil the installation of two new informative signs in Hyde Park, a charming naturalized park within the Rosewood neighbourhood.
These educational signs aim to enlighten park visitors about the paramount significance of the park's naturalized wetlands and their pivotal role as habitats for various plants and animals throughout the year.
The production and installation of these signs were made possible by generous contributions from Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation.
Both organizations have shown a solid commitment to enriching the park's educational offerings and preserving its unique wetlands in their natural state. The park's substantial size and central location within the city further enhance its distinctiveness.
The signs, beautifully illustrated by acclaimed local artist, curator, and writer David Geary, vividly depict the diverse flora and fauna observed in Hyde Park during the spring/summer and fall/winter seasons.
Park visitors can enjoy these magnetic signs while strolling along the east and west pathways. It's important to note that the signs will remain in place throughout the year, ensuring year-round appreciation for the park's natural wonders.
Covering an expansive area of 123 acres, Hyde Park serves as a haven for nature enthusiasts. Its establishment as a naturalized park dates back to 2007, when it was first identified in the South East Park Landscape Master Plan.
Since then, in collaboration with Ducks Unlimited Canada and the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation, the City of Saskatoon has devoted concerted efforts to develop the Hyde Stormwater Management Area while preserving its naturalized state.
This remarkable park boasts five picturesque ponds, an extensive network of walking trails, sports fields, play equipment, and two off-leash dog parks. Through active community engagement, the park's design has evolved to meet the desires and needs of residents.
