SCHS juniors host tournament

The Sturgis Composite High School junior girls and boys hosted basketball tournaments on December 11 and 12 with four teams participating. The junior girls tournament had teams from Canora, Norquay, Kamsack and the host team Sturgis.

The Sturgis Composite High School junior girls and boys hosted basketball tournaments on December 11 and 12 with four teams participating.

            The junior girls tournament had teams from Canora, Norquay, Kamsack and the host team Sturgis. The Sturgis team took on all the teams but unfortunately came up short each time, losing all three games. Canora was the winner of the girls tournament.

Members of the Sturgis team were: Kyla Tomas, Sierra Meroniuk, Jewel Howard, Mikayla Gregory, Tiara Yagelniski Alexis Vidomski, Hannah Gerbrandt, Paige Hansen, Audrey Vargas, Shanae Olson, Sierra Karcha, Kylie Babiuk and Allison Peterson. Megan Clancy and Russell Young filled in as coaches for the tournament as Coach Brad Cameron was unable to attend.

            The junior boys did not fair very well either as they lost all their games. Other teams entered in junior boys tournament included: Melville, Yorkdale and Norquay with Norquay winning the tournament.

Sturgis team members included: Garrett Bazuik, Austin Bartch, Jalen Bayer, Curtis Gerbrandt, Ethan Innes, Jordan Innes, Keannu Albaarracin, Camron Secundiak, Zane Bayer, Shae Peterwson, Seth Rayner, Knute Vallevand, Salem Budd and Leoj Viran. Megan Clancy and Russell Young filled in as coaches for the tournament as Coach Brad Cameron was unable to attend.
