Star Search winner to headline Mini-Miracle

Karissa Hoffart will be the headline performer at the annual Sturgis Kinsmen Mini-Miracle scheduled for March 3.

Karissa Hoffart will be the headline performer at the annual Sturgis Kinsmen Mini-Miracle scheduled for March 3. Hoffart was the winner of the 2015 CJGXStar Search title in September and has since produced two orginal songs: Welcome to Country and Dreamer.

            Hoffart was raised on a farm near Minton. She graduated from Gladmar Regional School in 2014 and now attends the University of Regina and Saskatchewan Polytecnic with a goal to attain a bachelor of science degree in nursing

            She always had a love for singing and took voice lessons in Plentywood, Montana for seven years. She has performed at many events and competitions. Her first competition was in Weyburn at a youth talent search contest where she placed second. She has performed in the competition for the past six years.

            When she was 14 years-old, Hoffart auditioned for the Next Star competition in Saskatoon where she paced in the top 20. She has also appeared on Telemiracle in 2012 and 2014. She has been in the top eight for the Estevan Idol for the past four years and participated in the Texaco Showdown and placed in the top 10 in the Big Country talent show. She has performed at Casino Regina and on the main stage at Craven.

            Hoffart has sang at various community events including the Heritage Days in Weyburn and the local fall fair in Gladmar.
