The museum was busy with fundraising events that included: the Kinettes’ fall market, the Snowflakes and Sugarplums event, a soup-and-sandwich fundraiser, a garage sale and hot dog sales, a Rawhides’ supper, equity days at the Coop selling hamburgers, a litter pickup, the Rhubarb festival in June, Sturgis Museum’s market and selling tickets for cash prizes.

Partial funding has been received from Sunrise Health Region and Parkland Valley Sport Culture and Recreation for the educational programming and the Celebrating First Nations Culture Day on September 11.

“This summer we are planning to create more space for storage by closing a small upstairs room and converting it to a storage room for artifacts, complete the First Nations exhibit and update or refresh the fur trade exhibits,” said Myrtle Boychuk. “Outside maintenance will include replacing some damaged deck boards, making the museum entrance fully wheelchair accessible and restaining the entire deck.”

There are a lot of little things that need addressing,” she said. “We will continue to move towards a higher standard.”
