Suspicious fire in Saskatoon causes $30,000 in damage

The Saskatoon Police Service takes over the investigation.

SASKATOON — On Sunday, March 12, a suspicious fire occurred in Saskatoon that caused damage estimated at $30,000.

The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at 2 p.m. and discovered that the structure was vacant at the time of the fire.

Crews from Saskatoon Light and Power were also on the scene to shut off utilities for the safety of the scene.

SFD fire crews launched an offensive attack and controlled the fire at 3 pm.

The fire investigator determined the cause of the fire as suspicious.

The Saskatoon Police Service's arson investigator was notified and took over the investigation.
