Dogs Doing Their Part
A woman in Colorado has trained to her dog to deliver meals, groceries and mail to a 71-year old neighbor. Sundance, a golden retriever, helps Karen, her owner, on a daily basis because a bad back keeps Karen from being able to do some tasks around the house. Those skills are now being put to use bring hope and cheer to their immunocompromised neighbor. Sundance delivers bags to the neighbor's front door and then brings back a bag of the empty dishes. Karen decided to involve Sundance rather than just dropping the items off herself and walking away. She described it as the difference between receiving a mass email or a handwritten card, saying Sundance is making more than deliveries. He is helping her show love to a neighbor.
The Best Delivery of All
When a woman in Massachusetts went into labor last month, she called her husband, a State Police Trooper who was on duty that night and told him it was time to get to the hospital. He headed home as quickly as he could but not too long after picking up his wife he had to pull over and deliver the baby boy on the side of the road. Two other State Troopers and the local fire department arrived on the scene to lend a hand. The new baby was named Jackson.
Half Strength, All Love
Another baby was in a rush to enter the world in England. When his wife suddenly went into labor dad knew things were progressing so quickly they didn't have time to get to the hospital. He was going to have to deliver the baby at home—with one hand—since his left arm was in a cast following a break three weeks before. With the phone in one hand and doing the best he could with the other, baby Ariana was safely delivered. Dad joked that changing diapers with one hand was just as hard as delivering a baby that way.
