“We had 10 teams originally entered, but four team pulled out, leaving is with six teams, All the proceeds raised are going to the Sturgis 9-1-1 Senior Lacrosse Team,” said Bo Babiuk, one of the organizers.

The teams were split into two divisions and each team played at least three games, one against every team in their division. Then the top two teams in each division played in a playoff.

Teams entered were, Backdoor Bandits (Sturgis), Gravy Train (Sturgis), Old Dawgs (Sturgis), Short Sticks (Preeceville), Flying Elbows (Sturgis) and Canoe Smashers (Sturgis).

Saturday evening featured a rib supper with socializing to conclude the weekend events.

“The tournament fundraiser was a great success and could not be done without all the volunteers who helped out. We are going to try and make this an annual tournament every year and are hopeful that it will get bigger and better,” stated Babiuk.

The Sturgis Lacrosse 911 senior team is set to begin its 2024 season in early August.
