Two youths charged with death of former Kamsack town administrator

Two male youths have been charged in relation to the death of a Yorkton resident who in the late 1980s and early 1990s had worked as the town administrator in Kamsack.

            Two male youths have been charged in relation to the death of a Yorkton resident who in the late 1980s and early 1990s had worked as the town administrator in Kamsack.

            In the early morning hours of September 13, a male was found on Wellington Park Road in Yorkton and transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, according to a release from the RCMP.

Further investigation by the Yorkton RCMP has revealed the deceased male and the two accused youth had some interaction followed by a physical altercation at a park in Yorkton.

            The deceased male has been identified in a release from the Yorkton RCMP as Lawrence Skoretz, a 67-year-old Yorkton man who previously had lived in Canora.

            Two male youths from the Yorkton area were located and arrested without incident on September 22 in relation to the death.

            The suspects have been charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of robbery with violence.

            Both accused are remanded into custody and made their first court appearance at Yorkton Provincial Court on September 23.

            The RCMP is continuing to investigate the death.
