STAR CITY— A total of about 18,000 square metres were burned through by a grass fire in the RM of Star City. The Melfort Fire Department responded on April 30, at about 4:18 p.m.

Premier Scott Moe and chief medical health officer Dr. Saqib Shahab announced 34 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan. Of the 34 cases reported Monday, 33 are a result of the outbreaks reported in the north or far north.

A trial was set to start April 29 in Pelican Narrows Circuit Court for a Sandy Bay man charged with second-degree murder but it didn’t go ahead. Thomas Johnny Bernard Ross, 31, was arrested in February connection to the death of Darnell Bear, 33.

Between Feb. 4 and Apr. 26, 2020, Saskatchewan RCMP received multiple reports of break-and-enters, thefts and property-related offences across central Saskatchewan.

On April 29, 2020, two people were charged in separate incidents near the community of Deschambault Lake under the Saskatchewan Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act for Bootlegging.

Eleven in hospital, two more recoveries

On a day when some Manitoba businesses began to open up, no new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the province. Officials announced over 600 tests were conducted by the province May 3, pushing the total number of tests over 27,000.

The case against a Prince Albert man charged with killing his parents and son, and attempted murder of his daughter, continues to be adjourned. Nathaniel Kenneth Carrier, 28, was scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court May 1 via CCTV.
