Presentations to address key areas where town may need growth

About 190 persons attended the Norquay branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation’s annual awards night and banquet on April 14. Johnny Petryshyn, Preeceville conservation officer, was the emcee for the evening.

Along with their calves, members of the Kelvington 4-H Beef Club met at the Zagrodney farm on April 22 for their farm day of clipping, grooming, weighing and showmanship.

The Keen Age Centre held a birthday social on April 22. Musical entertainment was provided by Iris Bodnarchuk on the mandolin. She played a variety of songs so everyone could sing along, said Marie Waselyshen, social committee member.

The Kamsack Dance Club held its second annual dance recital, titled “Legendary”, on April 7.

The Gateway Co-op held its annual information meetings in Sturgis on April 23 and in Canora at the Rainbow Hall on April 24.

“Enjoy life – you only have one chance at it.” This was the theme running throughout the dinner theatre performance of the Buchanan Black Box Players (BBBP) production of Geezers, by Tommy Lee Johnston.

Two men who grew up in the Kamsack area and refer to Duck Mountain Provincial Park (DMPP) as “part of our backyard” have formed a partnership and will focus on long-term strategies to create changes in the Park that will affect future generations.

The Preeceville and Sturgis United Church players performed its spring play in three communities over three days last week: in Stenen on April 27; Sturgis, April 28, and Preeceville, April 29.

Alex Billy was the winner of the first annual Distinction in Agriculture Award at the Canora Agricultural Society’s 13 th annual Farmers Night out on April 21 at the Sylvia Fedoruk Centre.
