Community hub returns months after epic storm

The Preeceville and District Mushers Rendezvous kicked off on February 2 with a talent show at the Preeceville Legion Hall where 11 artists and dancers were featured. Rhonda Cook was the emcee.

For 25 years, Kamsack’s handicapped residents have been able to get the transportation they need around the community by making use of the Kamsack Handibus.

The Canadian Red Cross is in the process of launching a Friendly Phone Link Program in the Sturgis and Preeceville area. “The program has been two years in the making,” said Barb Biccum of Preeceville.

A primary care paramedic, who recently served as a lieutenant in a Manitoba fire department and was named the community’s firefighter of the year for 2015, began work on February 1 as Kamsack’s first director of protective services.

On February 1, the Preeceville School acknowledged its staff members for their dedication and years served in the school. Doug King, principal, and Lisa Wotherspoon, a Good Spirit School Division representative, made the presentations.

A snowmobile safety training course held at the Canora Golf Course clubhouse on January 27 had an enrollment of 14 participants.

The main attraction at the annual Preeceville and District Musher Rendezvous held at the Preeceville Skating Arena February 2, 3 and 4 were dog sled races but many other activities focused on fun were also held.

On January 31, Riley Neumann and Mathew Sleeva, Canora volunteer firefighters, visited the Canora Kidspace daycare to teach the children about fire safety and the work of firefighters.
