Gerald and Darlene Burman attended the 40th Anniversary of Charlie and Penny LaRocque of Brandon. They also spent a few days at Clear Lake on their way home with Darlene and Pat Roland and Penny and Charlie LaRocque.

The largest pumpkin to win the 20 th annual Preeceville Great Pumpkin contest tipped the scale at 134 pounds. The pumpkin was entered by Tom Babchishin of Sturgis.

Kelly and Brandi Heskin of Preeceville were faced with every parent's nightmare when their 18-month-old daughter Chelsa began having unexplained seizures. Chelsa, daughter of Kelly and Brandi (Watland) Heskin was born on May 11, 2014.

In October, two new physicians are scheduled to arrive and receive orientation to Sunrise Health Region. The health region recruited the physicians to fill vacancies in Preeceville and area, said a news release from Sunrise Health Region. Dr.

Alan Holmberg will be the new mayor for the Town of Sturgis, effective at the November regular meeting of town council. Holmberg, who succeeds Mayor Don Olson, was unopposed, said Olivia Bartch, administrator.

Unopposed for re-election, Preeceville Mayor Garth Harris has been returned to head Preeceville council. But according to results of the nominating day on September 21, a total of 13 persons are seeking the six councillors’ seats.

The annual veggie exchange was another huge success with garden producers sharing extra vegetables with their fellow gardeners. The program was sponsored by the Preeceville and District Ministerial Association.

Rick Pristie, reeve of the Rural Municipality of Preeceville, is being challenged by Wayne Mastrachuk, said Lisa Peterson, administrator.

Residents of the Town of Stenen will go to the polls on October 26 to cast their votes for a new mayor and two councillors, said Sabrina Chernyk, administrator. Jason Anaka and Victor Wasylenchuk will face off in the race for the mayor’s seat.

In the Rural Municipality of Hazel Dell, Clinton Guy and Randall Harriman have been nominated for the position of reeve, said Christine Sorgen, administrator assistant. In Div. 1, Brett Spray is opposing Councillor Donny Holowachuk.
