The Government of Saskatchewan is working to develop new provincial legislation to prevent human trafficking. “Human trafficking is an issue of increasing concern across Canada,” Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan said.

In June, Sask Polytechnic cut several programs, including addictions counsellor training, as part of its response to the disruption from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Town of Outlook is left without a permanent Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at the moment, as Huguette Lutz informed town council at a July 28 special meeting that she had decided to resign from her role.

The town council of Outlook held a regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday night, August 12.

The Outlook has obtained the adopted minutes of several recent meetings held by Outlook’s town council, including the July 22 regular meeting, July 28 special meeting, August 7 special meeting, and August 11 Recreation Committee meeting.

There are four new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 19, bringing the total to 1,586 total cases. The new cases are located in the North West (2) and South West (2) zones. Of the 1,586 reported cases, 154 are considered active.

Notorious for noxious odours and even explosions, meth labs pose another danger. Even after a meth lab has been dismantled, the former lab may be a health risk in the building with the residue being toxic for up to five years.

At 3:24 a.m. August 6, Kamsack RCMP were called to a complaint of a motor vehicle collision involving an SUV and a pedestrian on Highway No. 8 near the Keeseekoose First Nation north of Kamsack.

About 200 people participated in a drug awareness event on August 2 and about a third of them had walked or rode a bike or motorized vehicle from Keeseekoose First Nation to Duck Mountain Provincial Park.
